Myelopathy

Myelopathy is a neurological condition caused by compression or damage to the spinal cord, often resulting from spinal stenosis, herniated discs, tumors, or trauma. It most commonly affects the cervical and thoracic spine and can lead to a range of symptoms, including pain, numbness or tingling in the arms or hands, muscle weakness, difficulty with coordination, and problems with balance or walking. In severe cases, myelopathy may also affect bowel or bladder control. Because the spinal cord is responsible for transmitting signals between the brain and body, untreated myelopathy can lead to progressive and permanent disability. Early diagnosis and surgical intervention are essential for optimal outcomes.
